Brainwaves – July 12, 2016 – Prog rock and “captains”

Brainwaves iconThis week’s Brainwaves starts with my favorite new Israeli prog rock band, Aperco. They sound like a cross between Pink Floyd, Yes, Genesis and the Tubes, with soaring guitar solos, spiritual synthesizer riffs and even a main melody played on the flute. Also on the show: a “captain” set with Elton John, Sterolab, Spizzenergi, Guster and Blues Image. Plus a cool acoustic version of the Talking Heads’ Psycho Killer, the return of the Feelies, and Weird Al Yankovic meets Toni Basil.

Visit the Brainwaves page on andHow.FM for times to listen live or on-demand.
