Brainwaves – June 27, 2017 – Zombies, Heads, Puppets and Wheels

The podcast S-Town re-introduced many people to the music of the 60s British pop group the Zombies. Like Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, the Zombies were influenced heavily by the Sgt. Pepper-era Beatles and wanted to create a more artistic album as well. The result was 1967’s Odyssey and Oracle. This week’s Brainwaves opens with a look back at the Zombies. Plus some music by and about heads (Talking Heads, Lemonheads, Cat Stevens, Suzanne Vega), puppets (Puppets of Castro, King Crimson, They Might be Giants) and wheels (Julian Cope, Dorin Yanni, Heaven 17).
