Juke In The Back

The records that you couldn’t hear on the jukebox in the front of the establishment… At the end of the Second World War, economics forced the big bands to trim their once great size and thus, the Jump Blues combo was born. Between 1946-1954, rhythm and blues laid the tracks for what was to become Rock n’ Roll. So how come, nearly 70 years later, this vibrant and influential music is still so unknown to so many? Matt The Cat is going to change that with the radio program, “Juke In The Back.” These were the records that you couldn’t hear on the jukebox in the front of the establishment. To hear all this great ’40s & ’50s rhythm & blues, you had to go to the “Juke In The Back.” For showtimes check out our live programme...

Sideways With A Badger

Another bag load of classic tracks from the fifties to the naughties!  Retro [ˈre-(ˌ)trō] derives from the Latin prefix retro, meaning “backwards, or in past times” – particularly as seen in the words retrograde, implying a movement toward the past instead of a progress toward the future, and retrospective, referring to a nostalgic (or critical) eye toward the past. Style that is consciously derivative or imitative of trends, modes, fashions, or attitudes of the recent past. It generally implies a vintage of at least fifteen or twenty years.  Each week, Chris Munday delivers another ‘dose’ of his world-famous show of Retro, Punk, New Wave, Blues & Glam rock. Blowing the dust of the vinyl, cassette & 8-tracks he brings you some of the classic tracks you’d forgotten that you loved. The concept for the show is simple, it’s all about raiding the 20th Century, looking for those tracks that you’d forgotten that you’s loved and on the way taking time out to take a look at the roots of the music and rock pedigrees that made them possible! The Menace’s Attic

Something old. Something new. Something borrowed. Something dusty. Each week Dennis The Menace goes up to his musical attic (his brain) to create sets of rock and roll music you’ve never heard together before and probably never will again. The songs are put together by a “loose theme” and might share some intricate musical heritage, make for the ultimate segue, or just sound good together. Six decades are in the mix from doo-wop to British Invasion hits and rarities to punk to 80’s New Wave all topped with the best melodic rock of today. Every 7th Show is the 7″ Edition where all music is played off 45 rpm records with lots of flip sides and imports in the mix. Throughout the show Dennis offers one-of-a-kind factoids about the artists and the music, gives away concert and movie tickets, and talks about his daughter Kate a lot! The Power Pop Show

If it rocks AND your mom likes it, it’s probably power pop! Power pop [ˈpau̇(-ə)r ˈpäp]  is a popular musical genre that draws its inspiration from 1960s British and American pop and rock music. It typically incorporates a combination of musical devices such as strong melodies, clear vocals and crisp vocal harmonies, economical arrangements and prominent guitar riffs. Instrumental solos are usually kept to a minimum, and blues elements are largely downplayed. The credo of the Power Pop Show is simple: bring quality, modern & classic melodically-driven rock to people who enjoy music. Your host Jeff Shelton meets in the middle, where melody and rock peacefully co-exist. For showtimes check out our live programme schedule! More info! Deep Threes

Deep Threes

We mix extended eclectic sets that fuse jazz, rock, modern classical, electronica, world music and more… What songs would you want if you could only download one track per album? Deep Threes is the weekly radio show for the 21st Century digital music collector. “Deep” is a nod to the deep tracks of the past. “Threes” refers to the MP3s that fill up our hard drives. Deep Threes dares to play long pieces that take music beyond boundaries. New releases from indie artists. Underground music from the copyleft. Rediscovered gems from the past. Music with bite, passion and depth. Themes are not chosen – they emerge. They could be a small arc between two songs as the set moves along. Or the set can unravel into a short story told through the mood and lyrics of each song. A Deep Threes mix can float over the clouds in the night sky, or gradually take you across terrain that is radically different than the starting point. Layers of found sounds, spoken words and subtle remixes are there to mark the way points in each excursion. Your destination: an oasis of deep listening and discovery. At the heart of this process is the music. The synergy of math and physics, mechanics and electronics, infused with the human spirit, rising up in a river of feelings alongside all the glistening gems we found along the way. The Deep Threes.
