The Waiting Room

Expect music, blather, chaos & cheek. Cheeky [ˈtʃiːki] – impudent or irreverent, typically in an amusing way. The Waiting Room, hosted by verbal miscreants & professional amateurs Drunk Country (DC) & “The Woman of The House” (aka TWoTH), is a new music/non-sequitur radio show based out of Cardiff, Wales. Discovering 2hrs of new music on your behalf every week since 2006, TWR delivers bands, live sessions, interviews, & nonsensical jibber-jabber at an alarming rate.  Formerly of WOXY.com. The Menace’s Attic

Something old. Something new. Something borrowed. Something dusty. Each week Dennis The Menace goes up to his musical attic (his brain) to create sets of rock and roll music you’ve never heard together before and probably never will again. The songs are put together by a “loose theme” and might share some intricate musical heritage, make for the ultimate segue, or just sound good together. Six decades are in the mix from doo-wop to British Invasion hits and rarities to punk to 80’s New Wave all topped with the best melodic rock of today. Every 7th Show is the 7″ Edition where all music is played off 45 rpm records with lots of flip sides and imports in the mix. Throughout the show Dennis offers one-of-a-kind factoids about the artists and the music, gives away concert and movie tickets, and talks about his daughter Kate a lot! For showtimes check out our live programme schedule! More info &...

Juke In The Back

The records that you couldn’t hear on the jukebox in the front of the establishment… At the end of the Second World War, economics forced the big bands to trim their once great size and thus, the Jump Blues combo was born. Between 1946-1954, rhythm and blues laid the tracks for what was to become Rock n’ Roll. So how come, nearly 70 years later, this vibrant and influential music is still so unknown to so many? Matt The Cat is going to change that with the radio program, “Juke In The Back.” These were the records that you couldn’t hear on the jukebox in the front of the establishment. To hear all this great ’40s & ’50s rhythm & blues, you had to go to the “Juke In The Back.” For showtimes check out our live programme schedule! Juke In The Back Matt The Cat presents the soul that came before rock n’ roll: 1950s rhythm and blues. Each week, this underrated and rollicking music plays on that old Rockola Jukebox in the back. Episode #364 – Aladdin Records, Pt. 3 Air Week: April 24-30, 2017 Aladdin Records Story, Pt. 3 The “Juke In The Back” presents part 3 in our series on Aladdin Records, one of the most important independent labels of the pre-rock era. Part 3 focuses on 1953-55, just as Rock n’ Roll was beginning to enter the mainstream. Matt The Cat digs up a great variety of styles this week as vocal groups, raw Rhythm & Blues, jump instrumentals, drinking songs and ballads take center stage. We’ll dig on some hits and misses from Amos Milburn, The Five Keys, Chuck Higgins, Gene & Eunice and Shirley & Lee. We’ll also hear some great debut records from Bobby Marchan and Sonny Knight, who would go on to greater success on other labels. A few rare vocal group sides are also featured. Grab a handful of nickels, because this week the “Juke In The Back” is loaded with Aladdin Records sides out of Beverly Hills, CA. This is the final part in our 3 part series.  LISTEN BELOW A Word On Chuck Berry I’ve been thinking a lot about Chuck Berry since his passing. It just so happens that I was finishing up a 3 part Chuck Berry feature on my “Juke In The Back” radio show the week he died, so Chuck has been on my mind a lot lately. When you look at the career of Chuck Berry, there is a constant that runs through it. Chuck rocked from start to finish. He almost single-handedly invented Rock n’ Roll by taking Rhythm & Blues...
