Marvin Hamster Music Emporium

A weekly radio show of alternative music from the 80’s and 90’s. College rock [ˈkä-lij ˈräk] was the term for 1980’s alternative rock. College rock was played on student-run university and college campus radio stations located in the United States and Canada in the 1980s. The stations’ playlists were often created by students who avoided the mainstream rock played on commercial radio stations. Marvin Hamster, your rodent of retro, selects two hours of College Rock, Alt Rock, Early Techno and Industrial, or what ever strikes his fancy, for your listening pleasure. Adjust your raspberry beret, move your tri-color rat tail aside, put on your headphones, light up a clove (if you got ’em), and tune in! For showtimes check out our live programme schedule! More info & playlists! Cloudcasts by marvinhamster on...

Under The Radar

New Music, Old Favorites, Buried Treasures, Imports and Indies. Indie rock [ˈin-dē ˈräk] comes from “independent,” describes the small and relatively low-budget labels on which it is released and the do-it-yourself attitude of the bands and artists involved. Although distribution deals are often struck with major corporate companies, these labels and the bands they host have attempted to retain their autonomy, leaving them free to explore sounds, emotions and subjects of limited appeal to large, mainstream audiences.  Your host Mark Copeland presents music that’s made for the radio, that corporate & commercial radio tends to ignore, direct from the Motor City, Detroit MI! The Menace’s Attic

Something old. Something new. Something borrowed. Something dusty. Each week Dennis The Menace goes up to his musical attic (his brain) to create sets of rock and roll music you’ve never heard together before and probably never will again. The songs are put together by a “loose theme” and might share some intricate musical heritage, make for the ultimate segue, or just sound good together. Six decades are in the mix from doo-wop to British Invasion hits and rarities to punk to 80’s New Wave all topped with the best melodic rock of today. Every 7th Show is the 7″ Edition where all music is played off 45 rpm records with lots of flip sides and imports in the mix. Throughout the show Dennis offers one-of-a-kind factoids about the artists and the music, gives away concert and movie tickets, and talks about his daughter Kate a lot! For showtimes check out our live programme schedule! More info &...

Juke In The Back

The records that you couldn’t hear on the jukebox in the front of the establishment… At the end of the Second World War, economics forced the big bands to trim their once great size and thus, the Jump Blues combo was born. Between 1946-1954, rhythm and blues laid the tracks for what was to become Rock n’ Roll. So how come, nearly 70 years later, this vibrant and influential music is still so unknown to so many? Matt The Cat is going to change that with the radio program, “Juke In The Back.” These were the records that you couldn’t hear on the jukebox in the front of the establishment. To hear all this great ’40s & ’50s rhythm & blues, you had to go to the “Juke In The Back.” For showtimes check out our live programme...
