IT’S MOVING DAY!

We are (still) relocating the studios to the Mangaroa Valley! We will be off the air for a few days whilst we move our studios and gear from Papakowhai to Mangaroa.  Please accept our apologies for the silence, but we will be returning again soon to bring you the best in world-class indie rock, just as we have been for almost 20 years!  Beginning 22nd June.  Thank you for your patience.  The studio is operational but the FM & Internet broadcasts are still down. **UPDATE** 12/07/18 –  We are currently still working to get back on the air.   There have been a few roadblocks to provisioning services to the new studios, in spite of our booking the move months in advance, thanks Spark NZ and others! 🙁  Then if that wasn’t enough drama, limbs have fallen and taken out the telecom lines to the studio.  That requires another level of cat herding to get all of the moving parts working together. Good news!  The cats have been herded and it looks like we have a target date to be back on the air.  Tentatively we are scheduled to have all of the work completed by Wednesday 18/07/18 and we look to be back up and jamming the free world, one person at a time soon afterwards.  *fingers crossed*  **UPDATE** 23/07/2018 – We are back on the air!  Finally.  🙂 Please accept our humblest apologies and rest assured we WILL be back...

Americana  [ə-ˌmer-ə-ˈkä-nə] is an amalgam of roots music formed by the confluence of the shared and varied traditions that make up the American musical ethos; specifically those sounds that are merged from folk, country, blues, rhythm and blues, rock and roll and other external influences.  A freewheeling, eclectic music mix of Rock, Blues, Folk, Contemporary Native American, Funk, Electronica, Reggae, World, Dub, Roots, Alternative & more. UnderCurrents is intelligent, fun, and easygoing — diving deep to reveal your past and future favorites. Listen with your host Gregg McVicar as he brings you American Music with a Passport! Under The Radar

New Music, Old Favorites, Buried Treasures, Imports and Indies. Indie rock [ˈin-dē ˈräk] comes from “independent,” describes the small and relatively low-budget labels on which it is released and the do-it-yourself attitude of the bands and artists involved. Although distribution deals are often struck with major corporate companies, these labels and the bands they host have attempted to retain their autonomy, leaving them free to explore sounds, emotions and subjects of limited appeal to large, mainstream audiences.  Your host Mark Copeland presents music that’s made for the radio, that corporate & commercial radio tends to ignore, direct from the Motor City, Detroit MI!
